20 Week Formal Ultrasound

We finally had the ultrasound, and guess what? It's a girl! Thank God, because my daughter wants a sister! When we asked her, "What if it's a baby brother?" She just said, "NO!" I don't know how we would have explained to her why she didn't get a sister, and thankfully we won't have to!

Things went really well, but I was very tired. Having more trouble sleeping lately. Either I can't get comfortable, I have a headache, or the heartburn is keeping me up! I can't win. I woke up the morning of the Ultrasound around 4 with horrible heartburn. It lasted over an hour, and nothing I took helped. Finally, I vomited then felt better.

When I got up for the Ultrasound at 8am, which I felt like I had just fallen asleep, I still felt sick to my stomach. They wanted me to drink 32 ounces of water in 15 min an hour before the test! Even if I was fine and not pregnant that much water that fast would make me sick. I did my best but didn't finish it all. They could tell my bladder wasn't full, but everything went well anyways! Which was a huge relief to me!

Everything looked good. We got to see all her parts and everything was there! She was moving around a lot to! The hospital does the 3D ultrasounds now and they give you a disk with pics instead of printing one! I don't really like the 3d pics they are creepy! If you don't know what your looking at they are scary. Some look like something is wrong with the baby. This was my third one and I still never know what I'm looking at! See if you can do any better. The placenta was in the way and the other distorted parts are from fluids and just her moving around!

Heartburn

I had the hardest time sleeping last night, and I was exhausted after the previous nights ordeal. However, I tossed and turned because nothing I did took away the horrific heartburn I had. I kept burping even in my sleep. Occasionally, I would taste that acidy vomit taste. I took antacids before bed with no relief, and tried again around 6 am. Finally, my body couldn't stand it any more and I vomited. A horrible type of vomit that you'd only see in a horror movie when someone vomits out an alien of some sort. I was sure my stomach or a lung was going to come out! My face had red dots all over it after when I was finished. I hope no one has to ever endure that!

First Emergency Room Visit (for this pregnancy)

Last night I spent 4 hours in the ER. Hours after I passed out in the shower, my doctor finally returned my call and suggested I go to the hospital. His reasoning was that despite the fact that I was having no pain at all the baby is to small at 18 weeks for me to notice if she or he is not moving. So something could be wrong without my knowing it.

Plus, he was concerned that I had a headache and then got dizzy in the shower and passed out with no recollection of the incident. I woke up with my daughter asking, "Are you ok mommy?" She was waiting her turn for the shower, and told me she heard me fall. I don't think she could have heard me since I was leaning against the wall when I fell. I think I just slid down. Plus the non-skid mat wasn't altered very much.

So after blood work an EKG, and hearing the baby's heart beat we were told all is fine. My blood pressure was normal, but on the lower end of normal. So the theory is that the hot shower lowered my blood pressure to much and I passed out.

The worst part of the entire thing was that I had 2 spend 4 hours away from my kids. By the time I got home it was more like 5 hours and it was after midnight! They had the hardest time sleeping without me and didn't fall asleep until after 11. Topher my youngest child will be 2 this month and he would not let any one lay down in my spot on the bed. We co-sleep. So when I got home I found daddy, Evie, and Topher all asleep, but squished onto half of a king size bed!

Third prenatal check up!

I lost 5 pounds so far. I forgot to ask the doctor if that was ok, but because I was already overweight I think its fine. I am not worried about it. I have been having the world's worst headaches. I mean these are so bad I can barely take care of the kids let alone myself. That may be why I've lost weight. I haven't been eating a lot. The OB said, "Sorry to hear about your headaches, but not to much we can do about that!" I knew that would be his answer, but it didn't make me feel any better.

The baby seems to be doing fine. The heart rate was 150. I had my blood drawn at this appointment to. They haven't called me with results yet, I am assuming no news is good news! One of the blood tests was to see if the baby might have down syndrome. I declined the test with my previous pregnancies, but I am so worried about something going wrong with this one that I told them to do it. My ultrasound is set up for the 20th of this month. I am so looking fore ward to it. I can't wait.
